Anna Karatzani


I studied conservation of Antiquities and Works of Art at the Technological Educational Institute of Athens, Greece; and I obtained an MA in Conservation of Historic Objects from De Montfort University and a PhD in analytical investigation of Byzantine-Greek metal threads from UCL.

I have worked for 7 years at the Hellenic Ministries of Culture and Education as object conservator in various projects around Greece. Since March 2011 I teach textile conservation at the Technological Educational Institute of Athens, Greece.

My research interests include the study and analytical investigation of metal threads in archaeological and historical textiles, the study and conservation of ethnographic textiles and currently I am involved in the study, analytical investigation and conservation of synthetic textile and polymer materials.
